Where to stay in Nags Head

You are in luck, there are so many different lodging options at your fingertips in Nags Head. From condos and hotels to gorgeous and expansive vacation rental homes; you won't struggle to find a tremendous place to stay during your trip to Nags Head.

Most vacation rental homes and condos are available for booking in 3-day and 7-day increments. If you wish to stay less than 3 consecutive days, consider finding a hotel. Prices range from about $125 a night to upwards of $500 a day with a great variation depending on the size of the home or condo that you rent.

Oceanfront lodging is the most expensive (no surprise there) and semi-oceanfront is slightly cheaper but still more expensive than oceanside or "between the roads" or even sound side and sound front.  If you can swing oceanfront financially then, by all means, you'll love it. If not, don't sweat! You can literally walk to the beach from just about every rental home in Nags Head.

There are many, many different vacation rental home management companies to choose from so be selective! You can also find a rental home or condo by browsing aggregator websites like Homeaway and VRBO. Also - don't forget about Airbnb which has a nice collection of rental homes listing on their site from private owners.

Restaurants in Nags Head

If you love fresh seafood then you're going to have no trouble finding a wonderful restaurant in Nags Head to enjoy. There are several restaurants in the town that have been operating for literally decades - Sam & Omie's and Owens' Restaurant to name a few.

Located across the street from Jennette's Pier in Nags Head is Dune Burger, which is a great place for lunch if you want a quick burger and fries paired with coke or a vanilla milkshake. Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe has some killer shrimp and grits as well as fresh mahi-mahi and yellowfin tuna on their expansive menu.

Dinner reservations are not available at every restaurant and are a good idea if you are able to make them. Don't be surprised if you have to wait 30 minutes to get into a highly-rated restaurant, it's more than likely going to be well worth the wait!

After dinner, you may want to do something fun with your family. Post-dinner we recommend go-karts or putt-putt golf and then ending the night with a walk along the beach.

  2. Bodie Island Lighthouse is located just north of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center and is a sight for sore eyes. You'll want to take about a million photos of the black and white striped tower and pay a few dollars for the opportunity to climb to the top for a view that's truly breathtaking.
  3. Nags Head is easily accessible by one of the two roads along with barrier islands and is centrally located on the Outer Banks so you can easily drive to either Cape Hatteras National Seashore to the south or Southern Shores, Duck and Corolla to the north. Also, you can visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills by driving about 10 to 15 minutes (depending on which part of Nags Head you are staying in).
  4. There are about 20 public beach accesses to choose from making this one of the most accessible places to stay on the OBX if you love the beach. And let's be honest, who doesn't love the beach?
